Ventura County Public Health has and will continue to monitor Monkeypox locally. At this time there are two confirmed cases in Ventura County and based on the information available, the risk of Monkeypox in the general population remains very low. If you develop a suspicious rash or were in contact with someone who has tested positive for Monkeypox, speak to your Primary Care Provider right away for guidance and testing. For more information on Monkeypox, including symptoms, transmission, and prevention tips, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s Monkeypox Webpage.
Anyone can get monkeypox, so it is important to be informed, however, if you do not have multiple or anonymous sex partners, your chances for exposure to monkeypox are low.
If you have been in close contact with someone who has monkeypox or are experiencing monkeypox symptoms, you should call your health care provider right away for guidance and testing.
